Welcome to ultra|DOC
We formed ultra|DOC to address a huge problem concerning endurance athletes (such as marathoners, ultramarathon runners, and triathletes):
As a dedicated athlete, you occasionally deal with injuries and setbacks. But you are not getting the proper care you need, because:
(1) The medical profession does not fully comprehend the nature of endurance sports (especially ultras or long-distance triathlons);
(2) They do not "get" you as a person, with your "crazy" needs, desires, and your passions;
(3) The result: all too often, doctors are not in a position to properly treat you.
This all adds up to endurance athletes more and more often simply foregoing needed medical care, because "you just need to stop running or training so much" is NOT an acceptable solution for you.
That is where we come in. As an Ivy League (University of Pennsylvania, undergrad), Georgetown Medical School and Vanderbilt University-trained surgeon and board-certified radiologist, Dr. Christopher Roman is one of the premier physicians in the country.
And as an endurance athlete who has tackled some of the world's toughest marathons and ultramarathons, including the Badwater 135, the Leadville Trail 100, the Western States 100, and the Brazil 135/175, Dr. Roman "gets" endurance athletes.
Along with his associate, Dr. Elizabeth Bathala, a Mayo Clinic-trained radiologist, Dr. Roman has one simple goal: to help provide the proper -- and useful -- medical care to (1) help accurately diagnose your injury, and (2) develop an effective treatment plan, to (3) to get you back "out there" as soon as possible.
For an affordable, one-time flat fee of $300, we will independently review your medical records so that your injury/condition is properly diagnosed. We will then work hand-in-hand with your current orthopedic physician (or primary care physician) to develop your recovery plan so that you are back on the trails or the road doing what you love best, instead of being stuck in the frustratingly endless bureaucracy of a medical profession that neither understands you nor has the tools to effectively treat your injury, and with no light at the end of the tunnel in sight.
We are different. We do understand you, and your sport (it is our sport, too). So now, you have an advocate who will voice your concerns and your unique circumstances, in order to properly diagnose and treat you. This is our mission and what we care about, plain and simple. We understand you, and we want what you want: to get you over this injury ASAP. If that sounds good to you, please click on the above tabs to learn more about us and our services. Thank you for visiting.
